& Typhoid Fever. Auckland, .February 23, Twenty cases of typhoid fever are m the hospital. The medical visittDg otsfl complain of over crowding and euggeßt the immediate erection of temporary wooden wards or tents. Many more fever cases are expected during the next few weeks. Scenes of Disorder. Disorderly scenes have taken place at Papakura gamfields a short distance from the city, where 400 men are earning good I wages, Yesterday at tho Papakura R.M. j Court Walter EggartoD, seaman (a former mate of Oaffcey, the murderer), wat committed for trial on a charge of brutally assaulting James Soott and breaking hie leg. At the same Court two larrikins Percy Freer and Borne wan sentenced to a month's hard labor for assault and boand over to keep the peace for six months. Freer and Home had attacked two men, one of whom m self-defence drew a Knife and Btabbed both prisonors, one having a wound through the arm and the other a large wound on the breaßt. Fever Ward. The Hospital Board this morning agreed to ereot a temporary fever ward to accommodate 40 patfenta. The buildIng Is to be ready within a' week. The Board at once drove off m a cab to fix a site. Alleged Perjury. An Information for perjury has been laid by Annie Robertson against Jane Graham, arising out of a Supreme Ooort case last year m connection with Mrs Robertson's ejectment from the Ohlnerautu Hotel. The case waa called at the Police Court today and adjourned till the 16th March.
