ARRIVAL OF THE TAINUI.
Auckland, Fobuary 16. Tho direct steamer Tainui, Cant Barl w, arrived at 4 a m. from London via Hobart. The medical officer of health fonnd one case of scarlet fever on board, that of a child aged 7 years who has been isolated with his two Bisters pit.cc the outbreak. There were two other cases during the voyage, the first of which broke ont after leaving the ' ape of Hood Hope, but both patients recovered. The Tainui has been ordered into quarantine till instructions are received from Wellington. Tbe mails are not being fumigated, as it is thought the steamer may be admitted to pratique. Later. In accordance with InetraoHona from Wellington, the Talnul's Auckland pasBengem will be landed at the quarantine station at Matohl and kept there till sixteen days after the InfeofclousfJdlaeMe has been eradicated. Tho mails will be landed at the quarantine hulk and the Tainui. after being thoroughly fumigated, will be allowed to go South with passengers and oargo. ________ mmmm
