ABhburton, January Ist, 1887. T>EFERRING to the above, I have IV much pleasure m intimating to the residents of Ashburton aud surrounding district that I have decided to settle m Ashburton, and hope by strict attention to bneineas to merit the sumo favorable support which has been extended to my brother. The ABhburton Twecda being quite equal, and m some respects enperor to imported goods, I will support the local industry as far as the requirements of business will permir. Fit, Style, and Workmanship Guaranteed. HUGH 0 CRATGHEAD Aahbnrton, January Ist, 1887. 12 HUSBAND AND WIFE. Thk Husband. Dear wife, I am weary of seeing You toil every day for your bread, While I am a poor helpless being ; 'Tis often I witih I weio dead. You ne'er were accustomed to toiling, Your handa were once whito like tho snow ; While I watch you work night and morning Yonr movements se^m wearied and ilov, The -Wife. Dear husband, give over your worry, My work se-mslilje labor, I ween, But I am never compelled, de;ir, tn hurry Kow I use Forrimn.n'B Washing Machine. It lightens by two-thirds my labors, And makes all my garments bo clean, That onr clothes are tho envy of neighbors Who adore Ferriman's Washing Machine TO THE WIVEsTnD MOTHERS OF ASHBURTON AND THK GENERAL PUBLIC OF MEW ZBALAND. In presenting to tho public of Ashbutton the marvellous STEAM WASHER, I believe I am confer 'ing a boon of incalculable worth on every wife and mother m thiß beautiful land, an whom that most important function of every household devolves, known (and hitherto dreaded) as washing olothes of every description. By the use of this Machine, this distasteful and slavish work is entirely relieved of ite drudgery, and made n source of pleasurable oxerciso. The unequallel qualities which ifc posseßees of thoroughly blanching the clotlies giving them an unparalleled whiteness, and ito harmloo action upon delicate and colored fabrics, render it peculiarly nsefal and popular. Mhe saving qualities of tha Maolrns quite m keeping with its other nvrito'ions features. Any person who will give it a practical test will be unquestionably convinced that from an ECONOMICAL standpoint it is unsurpassed and unequalled. Tho consumption of fuel m materially reduced. The saving effected m this item alone will m ens year equal the price of tho Mac'iine. As it only entails Ibe consumption of two-thirds the amount of soap wed m the ordinary way of wathinjr, this item of ec nomy is salf-evident to overv person. The greatest swing, however, ia effected m tho wear and tear of the clothes. Every intelligent individual knows that thr usa of the washboard wears tho vaiionß fabrics tnore than anything elao, and ts the marvellous Pteiim Washer renders its use absolutely unnecessary, and thereby obvinttß almoat entirety the neccß-ity for " clothes mending," its saving qualities m tbiparticular will be at onco apparent and appreciated. But all lta savin? qualities of a financial character are eclipsed, and dwindle in' o insignificance, when we take into consideration tha frail, delicate, and w«;akly condition of thousands of wlveo and mothers who are forced to tax their energies and waste their limited Bt ength injtha old way of washing; but who may, by tha use of its magical properties, do tho work without any fatigruo to their feeble bodies, and with infinite satipfaction and pleasure to their minds. This, raoro than any deeire or expectation on tho part of the mv ntor to mako money out o the article, waß the prime object ha had m viow. From the marvellous results obtained from its use^ hewever, and tho unbounded and enthusiastic comment ationß from everyone hating ascd it since its introduction to the public, ac annexed list of names of persona wh > have purchased Iho machine and are witling to testify to its meiits^ will fully attest, the advertiser has deemed it wise, m ord'jr to place incomparable article of household use more prominently before the intelligent poople of the district, to give the postal address of a few of the buyers, m order that an unprejudiced and entirely mpartial opinion of its intrinsic valuo, may bo readily obtained by anyone desirous of getting such information from actual users and purchasers, who v.ill undoubtedly be best calculated to give a just estimate of its value.
