IN retiring from the Tailoring Business so iong and suooeesfully oarried on by mo under the style of Cratgheid and Go. I beg most heartily to thank the many Kind friends and patrons who have so liberally supported me during the time I have resided m Aehburton, also to Inform them and the public generally th»t I have disposed of my business to Mr Hugh O. Oraighead, who comes to New Zea ! and well recommended with over thirteen years piaotiaal experienoe, and all the latest and newest ideag connected with the trade. 6 ALEXANDER ORAIGHEAD. Aihburton, January Ist, 1887. DEFERRING to the above, I have It much pleasure m intimating to the residents of Ashbarton and surrounding district that I have deoided to settle m Ashburton, aud hope by strict attention to business to merit the same favorable support which has been extended to my brother. The Ashburton Tweeds being quite equal, and m some respects »uper'or to imported goods, I will support the local industry as far bs the requirements of business will permit. Fit, Styiiß, and Wobkmikbhi* Guaranteed. HUGH O ORATGHEAD Ashbnrton January ltt. 1887. 12 HUSBAND AND WIFE. Thb Husband. Dear wife, I am weary of Boeing You toll every day for yonr bread, While I am a poor helpless being ; •Tia often I wish I were dead. You ne'er were accustomed to toiling, Your hands were once white like the snow; While I watch yon work night and morning Yonr movements seem wearied and slow The Wifb. Dear husband, give over your worry, Mv work Be ! mH like labor, I ween, Bat I am never compelled, dear, to hurry Now I nee Ferriman's Washing Machine.' It lightens by two-thirds my labors, And makes all my garments so olean, That our clothes are the envy of neighbors Who adore Ferriman's Washing Machine TO THB WIVES AND MOTHERS OF ASHBURTON AND THB GENERAL PUBLIC OF NEW ZEALAND. In presenting to the public ol Asbbutton the marrellouß STEArMvWAPHBIti-F.believo I am oonfer.inga.bpo'n'of incalculable worth on every- and mother irvthia'beatjtif a 1 land, an wKpin, that most importani- f nnjotion of •vei^crasebol *4*-»iv. known\and hitherto dreaaed) as , washing clothe* or every de- . vßy; ;she7t*e,of thiaHabnine; this difltattefat and slavish work is entirely relieved of i*s drudgery, and made a source of pleasurable ozerciso. The unequalled qualities which it possesses of thoroughly blrachintr the clothes giving them an unparalleled whiteness, and it 3 Barmlecß action upon delicate and colored fabrics, render it peculiarly useful and popular. The uaving qualities of the Machine qnite m keeping witn its other meritorious features. Any person who will give it a practical test will be nnquefltionably convinced that ttnm an ECONOMICAL st-ndpoint ij; is unsurpassed and unequalled. Tho consumption of fnel is materially reduced. The saving effected m this itoti alone will m one year equal the price of the Machine. As it only entails tbe consnmption of two-thirds the amount of soap u<ed m the ordinary way of washing, this item of ec.nomy is self-evident to Bverv person. Th» greatest Bavins, however, is effected m the wear and tear of the clothes. Every intelligent individual known that thi übb of the washboard wears thi various fabrics more than anything elße, and cb tho marvellous Pte*m Washer renders its use absolutely unnecessary, and thereby obviates almost c tireij the necessity for " clothes mending," its saving qualities m thi* particular will be at once apparent and appreciated. Bnt all ita savin* qualities of a financial character are eclipsed, and dwindle info insignificance, when we take into consideration the trail, delicate, and weakly condition of thousands of wives and mothers who are forced to tax their energies and waste their limited strength m Jthe old w»y of washing; but who may, by the use of ita magical properties, do the work without any fatigue to their feeble bodies, and with infinite satisfaction and pleasure to their minds. This, more than any desire or expectation on the part of the inventor to make money out o the article, was tbe prime object hb had m view. From the marvellous results obtained from ita use, hewever, and the unbounded and enthcaiastic commendations from everyone having used it since ita introduction to tho public, aa annexed list of names of peißons who have purchafed the nmchina and are willing to testify to its meritß, will folly attest, the advertiser haa deemed it wiso, m ordar to place incomparable article of household uee more prominently before the intelligent people of the district, to give the postal address of a few of the buyeifl. m order that an unprejudiced and entirely mpattial opinion of its intrinsic valae, may be readily obtained by anyone desirous of getting such ia formation Iron actual reers and purchasers, who will üb. donhtedlv be best calculated to give a jutt estimate of ita value.
