BAREFOOTED HORSES,
Mr P. H. Fahin. a furniture and piano mover at Melden, gives his experience m the Boston Transcript fti*b barefooted horses. He has driven three hoMe* (fc<vo weighing 1,100 pounds each and 1,300) since January, 1885, without shoeß. The large horse had always been lame since he bought htm, fourteen years Bgo, until he took his phoea off. 'ihe animal has not gone lame since. He was driven on hard flint ro'adr, and of course, on pavement m Bob on. The howes travel better than before their shoes were taken off. They are not frightemd on slippery pavements, as Ihoy were with shoes on, ard there is no trouble m getting round on any kind of going m the ci'y. Mr Fahin drove to Shrewsbury, 85 mMea from Melden, after two days' rain m February 188p, when it was so icy that a boy could skate all the way, and had no trouble. The hoof is hard and broad, and the frog Is full and pluzap, and on a level. They bad driven two winters on ice and snow altogether belter than when they were ■hod, Their feet are better for all purposes, and they can trot faster, pull as much, and go more miles m the tame time ftlß they QQuJd when flhod,
