DEFEAT OF MR GOSCHEN.

The election to fill the vacancy m the representation of the Exchah£t Division of Liverpool m the House of Commons, necessitated by the death of the late senior member, Mr David Duncan, Home Ruler took place to-day and resulted m the return of Mr Neville (Liberal) by a majority of eleven votes over his opponent, Mr Goschen, Chancellor of the Exchequer. The respective totals polled are 1 stated to be 3222 and 32 1 1, but the ballot papers are to be recounted to-morrow, prior to the declaration of the poll.
