THE FISHERIES DISPUTE.
Washington, January 20. A Committee of Congress has strongly approved of a Bill which has been introduced for the purpose of obtaining reprisals for the treatment of American fishing vessels by the Canadian Government.
(Received January 22, 12.15 p.m.) FRANCE AND GERMANY. Berlin, January 20. The semi-official North German Gazette to-day states that large purchases of planks are being made by the French m Alsace, evidently with the object of building huts for the troops which the frontier fortresses are unable to contain.
