HOMICIDE BY MISADVENTURE.
Ihe danger of trespassing on private property fs illustrated by a case which took place at Prahan, a suburb of Melbourne. Mr R. B. Cross found a man m bli garden who he ftuepeo'ei was bent on stealing fiwls. He seized an old musket, and, confronting the intruder, •■ked him wlnt heVanted. On receiving no reply, h« made a stroke at him with the gun which went off, the charge lodging | m the man's groin. Cross conveyed the wounded man to the Alfred Hospital, •nd then Informed the police of the occurrence He aays that he wan unaware that the gun was loaded. The man, whose name is John Shaw, a resident of Prahran, died the tame afternoon.
