AUCKLAND, January 17. After threw days' trial Jamas- S. Gibbons, oharged with the burning down of his factory at Onehungo, was acquitted. The Judge summed op strongly m favor of the accused, and the jury, In delivering their verdict, expresaod sympathy with the acou?ed fn the pooidon m which he had bee^ placed ty the yit'Oßecullon. His Honor paid ihe vardict waß n righteous one, and he hoped the p'lnc pal witness for 1 the prorecutfon would shortly be m tbe position m wbftih he deserved to be.
