CORN EXCHANGE.

The following is the ChrJstchurch Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, January 14 :— The summer weather of the last fewweeks has brought on tho crops wonderfully well, wheat especially, which has improved considerably, and promises to yield a fair return and good quality. The oat harvest has commenced, and several Bamples have been exhibited for sale, but ns yet little business has tranapired. Bye gross seed is offering plentifully. The samples are irregular, consequently prices between buyers and sellers are at present rather wide.

Wheat — "stocks of old are m very few hands, and prices are not any lower, millers still bringing m "etuull parcels. Pearl and Tuscan at 4s 4d to 4s 6d ; Hunter's, 4s 4d ; second quality is rather weaker at 4s to 4s 2d ; chicken wheat is lower, and 3a lOd is the top figuro for fair samples.

Oats have had a considerable stir during the week m consequence of a few shipping orders being to hand Local demand is quiet. Milling is quoted at 2s ; heavy short feed at Is lOd to Is lid ; inferior kinds, Is Bd.

Barley — Prime malting would find an outlet m limited quantities at 2s 8d to 2s lOd ; and good bold feed at 2s 2d to 2s 4d.

Peas and, beans are nominal at 3s to 3s 6d.

Rye grass is offering freely at 3a to 3s 6d, but. buyers ar© chary about buying. Prices are scarcely settled as yet between vendor and buyer j but if we quote 2a 6d for inferior, 2a 9d for medium, and 3s for extra well cleaned farmers' parcels we shall not be far out. Machine-dressed is not yet offered. Cockfopt Is not yet offering. Potatoes out of season,
