George Haylook, an elderly man, who, with his fanii'y, was removed from his residence a few days a.;o by the bailiff?, attempted suicide at AVaroa last evening, by jumping i-ff Daley's jetty. He had threatened itf do this. Mr Dick h&otened with a grappling hoop and got him by the coat, and two fishermen gotjjhim out, n<?ne the worse for his Immersion. — LytUlton Times. Between twelve and one o'clock on Thursday a little boy, 18 ' months of age, son of Mr Peter Thompson, residing at Selwyn street, Sydenham, close to Lancaster Park, was accidentally drowned. His mother, who missed h'm from the room, went to the back yard, and found him drowned m a tub of water placed underneath a tap. He had apparently gone to the side of the tub, overbalanced himself, and fallen partly into it. for his legs and the lower part of his body were out of the water. Dr Hunt waß quickly sent for, but could not restorejanimation The child was m the klioh?n five minutes before his. body was found m the tab.
