(RKTOKK b TKIiROKAMtt — OQf TBJOIW) »***^*^ London, January B It is announced that Mr Goschen has accepted the position of Chancellor of , the Exchequor m the Salisbury Ministry The Pall Mall Gazette to-day states that Mr Chamberlain expressed his willingness to be prestnt at an informal private conference with Mr Gladstone, Mr John Motley, and Sir Wm. Vernon Harcourt, for the purpose of discussing the Irish question, and endeavoring to settle a basii which will be acceptable to both Mr Parnell and Mr Chamberlain. Junnnry 4. It is stated that Lord Iddesleigh and Sirß. A. Cross will resign their appointments m the Ministry, and that the Ministry will be reconstructed as follows :— Mr W. H. Smith, First Lord of the Treasury and Leader of the Commons, Lord Salisbury remaining Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs; Lord Northbrook, Secretary of State for India ; Earl Morley, Secretary of State for War
