Auckland, December 28. One of the firemen engaged at the fire at Rundie street on Thursday, who has since been missing, is now known to have perished in the flimes. Another fireman died from injuries received on the same occasion. The total loss by fire at Rundie street is now stated to have been TEETULPA. Mr Murray, the Victorian geologist, visited the Teetulpa goldfields, and has given a favorable report as to tbeir value and permanency. Returns from Teetulpa continue satisfactory. QUARANTINE. Melbourne. December 28. The passengers on board the German Lloyd steamer Preussen, which arrived fhis morning, have been placed in quarantine, one of the crew having developed dangerous symptoms, which have all the appearance of smallpox. Passengers by the German Lloyds’ steamer Preussen have been quarantined for twenty-one days. No fresh cases of smallpox have been reported. (Received December 29 b, at 12.40 p m ) SMALLPOX. Adelaide, December 29. One of the passengers quarantined from the North German steamer Preussen is suffering from smallpox. BELLICOSE FIREMEN. Mepu ipRXB, Dec.mbei 29. During the fire which occurred at Footscray last night a fight took place , between several firemen. The Captain of the Brigade was severely injured and now lies in a critical condition.
