DeficiencyAuckland, December 29. ; At a meeting of the Grammat School Board of Governors to day the auditor reported that he had discovered a deficiency of £B9 in the accounts of tho late Secretary, Von der Hyde, who left for Germany a few weeks ago. Mr Didd was elected secretary, a guarantee of £2OO being required. Arson. The charge of arson against J. S Gibbons, of Onetiunga is being heard at the Police Court. Mho evidence of the insurance agent shows that tho chief witness for the prosecution at first refused to give information concerning the fire unless he was guaranteed a reward. Suicide. Christchurch, December 29, Thomas Goy, aged G 3. _ committed suicide this morning at Springfield by hanging himself to a wire fence by a piece of wire.
