Victoria had to surrender the lead, and Clogs went to the front, with Waitiri second. In the home stretch Waitiri came to the front with a great rush, sDUttlng herself from the others. Here Brown gave Kelson his head, and he rushed through into second place, hut at the entrance to the straight Waitiri had such a lead that a cry went np 4 ‘ Waitiri wins.” Woods was hard at work on Waitiri all up the straight, but Kelson wonld not be denied, and won easily by two lengths, Clogs a good third, Loshlel fourth.
