Regret was expressed that the Hon lb R blnson had scratched his colt Disowned, also at Tetford being absent. As the horses faced the starter they were •omr-ed with the keenest interest. way to a splendid start. on he off side at once cot out the running. At the back of the course the order was, Victoria first, Waitirl second, Clogs third, Lcohiel Fourth, Derringer fifth, Kelson last. la this order they wem through the cutting, and there was little change when they entered the straight, but passing the stand Victoria still headed the others close together in the following order ;—Lochiol, Friendship, Waitiri, Derringer, Lk'j Norah, Nelson At the back of the course the speed bad improved, and the pace was great. Victoria had to surrender the lead, and Clogs went to the front, with Waitiri second. In the home stretch Waitiri came to the front with a great rush, sDUttlng herself from the others. Here Brown gave Kelson his head, and he rushed through into second place, hut at the entrance to the straight Waitiri had such a lead that a cry went np 4 ‘ Waitiri wins.” Woods was hard at work on Waitiri all up the straight, but Kelson wonld not be denied, and won easily by two lengths, Clogs a good third, Loshlel fourth. Lady Borah fifth, Der—singer sixth, Friendship and Victoria together last. Time, 4mln 3Jseo, or 3Jseo more than when In last year’s Cup, the first two fought out the race with the same result. The finish of the race elicited unbounded enthusiasm. There were 1430 in the totalisatnr. 369 on the winner ; dividend £6 19'; £2 tickets.
