Mclbourne, Deo tnber 24 At the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company’s usual weekly sale yesterday, 3384 bales were offered, and 3886 sold, making a total of 3906 disposed of during the week. The bidding was spirited throughout. Greasy was decidedly firmer than last week. Scoured was somewhat easier. Greasy realised to and scoured i6d ; washed fleece to i4^d. NEW MINISTER. Sydney, December 24. It it announced that Mr McKellar has accepted the portfolio of Mines. MOUNT RENNIE OUTR AGE. Efforts are being made to obtain a reprieve of the prisoners who have been sentenced to death in connection with the Mount Rennie outrage. SERIOUS FIRE. Adelaide, December 25. A very serious fire took place in Rundle street on Thursday night, by which Castle and Co.’s drapery establishment and Cunningham and Co.’s hardware depot were destroyed, the entire premises being gutted. The damage is estimated at {sic). Later. The fire which occurred in Rundle street on Thursday night entirely destroyed the Academy of Music.
