He is a dark brown or black horse, stands 16 hands high, got by English Tim Whiffl r, out of Flying Scud. Tim Whiffler was by Van Galen, out of Sybil, by Ugly Buck, out of Sylph, by Titha da puta, Van Galen being by Van Tromp, out of Little Casino, by Inheritor. Flying Scud was a dark bay mare, bred in Victoria by Mr J. Harper in 1865, got by Fisherman, her dam being Jeanette by Little John, Whilhelmina by Romeo, Moss Rose by Emigrant, the Lri'-or mare (For extended pedigree see English and Australian stud b oks ) Tim Whiffler was scarcely ever beaten in England. The dam of this horse being by Fisherman shows his grand blood, as a study of the stud book will show that Musket’s great success bas been from Australian bred mares, for the descendants of the grand old Fisherman, viz., Martini* Henry, Nordenfelt, and Trenton, are al descended from Fisherman on the dams side.
