AFFAIRS IN IRELAND.

London. December 18. The plan of campaign adopted by the no-rent agitators has been proclaimed an illegal conspiracy, and those partaking in it liable to prosecution. It is also proclaimed that money collected by agitators will be seized by the Government.

Messrs Dillon, O’Brien, Harris, and O’Shea, who were brought up at Loughrea charged with obstructing proper payment of rent, will not be further proceeded against at that place, but instead the defendants, together with Messrs Redmond and O’Reilly, will be brought up to Dublin charged with conspiracy. Dillon and O’Brien, while driving yesterday, were thrown from their conveyance, and Diilon’s injuries have been of so serious a nature as to confine him to his bed. (Received Dec. fO, Ipm.) 1 TEMPORARY BUDGET.

In the Chamber of Deputies yesterday a temporary budget was voted, and the present session of Parliament closed.

Washington. December 18. In the House of Representatives a proposal that a reduction be made in the tariff on woollen goods and the import duty on wool be removed was rejected by a majority of six.

NEW GUINEA.

London, December 18 It is announced that the Government will not proclaim British sovereignty over New Guinea, but that if the Australian Colonies are prepared to give a permanent grant for the proper administration of Government in that country in the event of this being done the Imperial Government will consent

postal union.

Receiving a deputation yesterday, the Poslmaster<-General expressed a hope that the Australian Colonies would join the Postal Union.
