On Saturday an e*eve of the Ashburton High School Buys played eighteen of the South Rskaia rch'.’ol boys on the ground of the 'utter. The g«me resulted in a win for the home team, the e.cores being; Rakaia, Ist innings, 52 ; Sod, 31- Ashburton, Ist innings, 27 ; 2d, 32. Lartiran and Broci betted well for Rakaia. and Crawford hand ed the bail successfully. A. Buchanan was very effective with the hall for the Ash-bu.-tonitps. The eleven show their pluck, and state their intention of again playing eighteen, *t the same time feeling confi dent of a charge in the result. ENGLISHMEN v AUSTRAII INS. Melbourne. D camber 18. The ctiokct match, Shaw and Ltllyw bite’s team v Australian Eleven, was continued to-day. Owing to the imla mency of the weprher, play was stopped at intervals daring the day.
