LONGBEACH ROAD BOARD
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Longbeach Roid Board waa held on Friday, December 17. Present Messrs Chanman, Davies, Bishop and Wihiams. Mr Chapman was voted to the chair. CORRESPONDENCE Letters were read (I) From County Ooupoil enclosing copy of Engineer s report relating to Woods creek. (2) From County Council stating that tno suDMdy of Is 6d per 100 for heads and eggs of ■mall birds would be continued —lt tta , resolved to supplement the Council’* "■. • by la per 100, and to revoke the res Nation passed a last mee’ing. BOAD ACCESS Mr W. Wilson again interviewed the Board and presented a numerously signed petition praying for the opening of the road to his section,—-As the petition contained the signatures of a majority of ratepayers in that ward and as there was at present no money to meet the expenditure the Board considered they should strike a special rate to meet It. Eventually the mailer was deferred till next meeting the Surveyor and Mr Bishop lu the meantime to inspect the road leading towards the mcuih of the river. CrMBTBBY BOARD. Mr T. Taylor waited on the Board with a view to obtaining a grant In aid of the Waterton Cemetery, which, he staled, had a small liability, and oo funds to meet it. The County Council had been interviewed, but without success ; he now applied to the B“ard.—Mr Tayior was informed that the only local body exercising any control over cemeteries w«a the County Council. However, the Board would look into the matter. —Mr Taylor then asked that the reserve in front of the cemetery she aid have the gorse grubbed up and a fence erected along f the road,— It was resolved that this should be done.

Mr M. Griffithu asked to have the drain cleared out from the oolveit to Cteek on East side of Graham’s road, opposite his property.—The Surveyor was authorised to inspect the drain and to arrange with Mr Griffiths to have the work done. WATER. Mr Weston asked permission to make a small drain alongside the road in < rder to procure water from either Ford s or Taylor’s Creek —Mr Weston’s it quest was acceded to, on condition that ho put iu a small box culvert with proper backstop at the intake and mede necessary arrangements for the prevention of damage by floods, suevkvoe’s report. (1) —Surveys*’s Road —The contractors are at work erecting tho new bridge on this road. Other two bridges on this road require attention, one requires to bo almost entirely rebuilt, and the other redecking The cost would be ah ut i'BO. (2). —Graham’s Road. The metalling of portion of this road is being proceeded with ; we had the grade of new ford near Griffith’s comer i educed, as authorised at last meeting (3}. —Maintenance —The maintenance man has been engaged on various roads executing repairs requiring attention (4). —Tenders —Tenders have been invited for various works authorised at last meeting, and which will be laid before you to day for consideration. 1 was left in the hands of the chairman with power to act The re mainder of the report was adopted. TENDERS. Tenders were accepted for the following works j Shephera’s Road, Blee and Cairns, at 4s IJd per chain LongheadRoad, No 61a, and 61b, Taylor and D-d borough, at 1» 2d and Is 4d per yard respectively. Longbeach R' ad, No 61c, T. Kerin, at Is 3d per yard Boundary Road, Bellamy and Kennington, at los per chain. Purveyor’s Road, W. Dwyer, at Is I£d per yard. The Bg&rd then adjourned.
