Mmsbs Miles and Co. Messrs Miles and Co report on their wool sale at Ashburton on December 16th as followsOn Thursday, in conjunction with Mr George Jameson, we held our second wool sale of the season in the Ashburton Town Hall, submitting a catalogue of 330 bales of wool, besides 64 lots of bag wool, pieces, and locks. There were the usual number of buyers, but biddings were spiritless compared with the first local sale held on the 28th November, and prices fell, taken all over, to the extent of $d to Jd per lb. As a rule vendors evinced a disposition to sell, and with the exception of three lots, we succeeded in clearing our catalogue, our highest prices being for merino wool 7sd per lb, longwool 6d per lb, tbree-quarterbred wool 741, and halfbred wool up to BJd per lb; oar most valuable wool being passed in, owners electing to ship on their own account rather than submit to the reduction. Many of the lots offered were well grown and light in condition, but we have again to remind many of our friends tbs,t they would do much better if a little more care was exercised in the putting up. We append a list of prices:— 11, balfbred hoggets, two rams’ fleeces on top, 2 bales at 6jd; crossbred ewes and hoggets, 1 at 7Jd ; gL, balfbred hoggets, a few ewe fleeces in one bale, 2 at 7d; L over L conjoined, Lincoln and one black fleece, 1 at 6d; TH conjoined, balfbred hoggets, 3 at 7^d; balfbred ewe, 1 at 7d; CD over —, merino. 3 at 6}d; ND conjoined in circle, balfbred hoggets and five merino fleeces, I at 7d; DM, balfbred ewes one-third, merino ewes two thirds, 1 at 64d; balfbred ewe, 1 at 7d; merino ewe, 1 at 6}d; two 4’s conjoined, halfbred hoggets, 3 at 7id; balfbred ewes, 2 at 7£d; merino ewes, 2 at 6d; Southdowncross hoggets, with two ewe fleeces in one bale, 2 at 7£i ; Olenkens, balfbred ewes, 8 at 7id; mixed (Leicester 19 fleeces.
