London, December 8At the Conservative banquet in the Cijy last night, the Marquis gf Salisbury delivered a speech, in which he welcomed the important cooperation of the Marquis of Hartington with reference to the Irish question, and pointed out that the Unionist Liberals were gradually increasing in number. He declared that the Irish people were being deceived, and only a stem enforcing of the law would undeceive them. FURIOUS GALESLondon, December 9. Furious gales haye been raging iq England and Ireland daring the last twenty-four hours. They have .been especially violent in the South of England, where numerons wrecks have occurred, causing much loss of life. Much havoc has also been caused by gales in some districts of Ireland. DECLINED. Paris, December 8. M. Floquet, who was asked to form a Ministry, has declined. M. Goblet, formerly Minister of Public Instruction, has however, accepted the task.
