TEMPERANCE MEETING AT WATERTON
A very successful Gospel Temperance meeting was bold at Waterton on Wednesday evening. There was a large aitendai cs, the hall being crowded to excess. The Rev T. W. Newbold presided, and, devotional having betn rendered, delivered a very instructive and amusing ndlress, taking for his subjict the success achieved by Temperance. A miscellaneous programme was then disposed of as follows Song, “Be temperate boys,” Me Dakera (euo'Ped) ; recitation, “ The drunkard's child," Miss A. Williams; song, “ Cold water for mo,” Mr Osborne ; recitation, “Tbe drunkard’s child’s prayer,” Miss A Donaldson; reading, “ A Merry Christmas,” Mr R. Gllmonr ; song, “The Temperance army,” Mr Wheeler (encored); song, “ The gentle lambs,” Miss Flora Prebble (aged 6) ; recitation, “Coma home father,” Miss H. Rasnstan ; song, '* Bon 1 y grows the barley,” Mr Dakers. Mr Osborne's song, “ Sign the pledge,” was well responded to, a large number of persons coming forward. A reo 'at on, “The teetotal do’ls,” by Mies Flora Prebble, brought the meeting to a close.
