SIR WILLIAM EITZHERBERT.
The Wellington fu respondent of the New Zealand Herald says :—To ere was a rumour afloat in Wellington for tbe last few days i! at the Speaker of the Legislative Connell would shortly proceed to England and retire from public life I have made enquliias as to the grounds for this rumour. His friends say it is very Improbable, seeing the energy with which Sir Willrtm Is improving his property Bnt this is a reason for as wall as against, seeing t' at- if Sir William retired he would sell the property. It is a better reason for the Incredulity of his friends that he has not said anything to any of them about his intention to retire. The rumour, 1 believe, had its origin In a oonvotsat on relative to the sale of some portions of Sir William’s property, and the recast death of JUdy Fiisberbert, ,
