The Keilawarra sank in seven minutes after. The Captain and thirty five of the crew and passengers went down in her. Three of the Helen Niccol’s crew are missing. The Kedawarra is a vessel of iooo tons and is owned by Howard Smith and Co, Limited.

The Helen Nicoll was coming from Grafton to Sydney] The Keilawarra had 25 passengers, The Helen Nicoll was severely injured by the collision, and put into Trial Bay. The Keilawarra’s passengers are as follows : —A family of 8 persons named Shepper, Mrs Jobmton and child, Misses Calder, Gallagher, and Buifin, Messrs Willson, Copeland, A. James, Scott, Lough, McGrade, McDonald, Nott, and ix steerage. The names of the saved are :—Preece, Barton, Lodge, Lough, Greeves, Copeland, A, James, Maher, Connolly, Corby, Sucurr, Gray, Nott, Young, besides others unknown.
