HAMPSTEAD SCHOOL COMMITTEE
Tho ordinary monthly meeting of the Hampstead School Committee was held in theScho tlroom last evening. Present : Messrs F. T. Mayo (chairman), Hunt, Lamb, Andrews, Fawcett, Dailey, and Taylor. master's report. ASSISTANT MISTRESS The Board of Education wrote in reply to resolution forwarded by the Committee, that it saw no reason to question the legality of tho assistant mistress’s appointment.
Mr Fawcett, as one of the prime movers in the matter, said that he was always willing to submit to tlyj higher powers.” He han acted free from personal motives throughout Mr Andrews similarly expressed himself. He -ad had no personal animus in the t.latter, alt.iough he had had to submit to a lot of bully-raggin and had been the r cipient of a lawyer’s letter in connection with tho matter Mr Fawcett, said that if those who had sent letters to him and to those members of the Commit tee who t ok his view of the question, with a view to them, thought they had succeeded in their ohj ict, they were much mistaken. The Chairman reported that the recent enterlai intent in aid of the children’s t.eat fund had bean very successful, a net sum of about £U having been realised.
