WOOL SALES.
* [kBUTER's TELEGRAMS—COPYRIGHT.] Mi irmurne, Decorate- 8 Goldsborough and Co. held their usual weekly sale this afternoon to a large attendance of bnyers. Competition was biisk, 7000 bales being offered of which 4000 were sold at prices which are on an equality with those realised at the London sales. Greasy wool j/<d and id lower; scoured from id to lower; scoured from td to lower. In g iud greasy lambs and light crossbreds there is no mateiial change to report.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received the following telegram from London, dated December 7th: — Wool—Greasy merino has declined rd to iJ/jd per lb since close of last sales, and same class, new clip, *4d to id per lb. Other sorts have declined as under: —Clothing, washed, ad to combing, washed, 2d to 2 yt* d per lb; scoured to 3d per lb; fine greasy crossbred, id to per 11) ; coarse greasy crossbred, }4d to id per lb ; fine washed crossbred, id to 1 i/jd per lb ; coarse washed crossbred, y 2 d to id per lb; fine scoured crossbred, to 2d per lb; coarse scouted crossbred, id per lb. For lambswool the market is unchanged. Competition on French account is sluggish. There is much irregularity in the bidding. The total quantity catalogued to date is 59.000 bales, and withdrawals amount to 12,000 bales. Wheat—Market generally better, and we think will continue improving. Victorian wheat is worth 36s Qd; New Zealand (average), 35, and New Zealand (long berried) 35s 6d per 496H1, Tallow—Market quiet. It has been higher since we last telegraphed, but declined. Good and medium mutton tallows are worth respectively 283 to 24s per cwt. Leather—Market unchanged. Frozen Meat—Market sluggish. New Zealand mutton, weighing per carcase to ;olb is worth 4d per lb.
