SOUTH RAKAIA ROAD BOARD.
The adjourned meeting of the South Bakaia Road held rn Monday, Present —Messrs Coster (chairman,) Tucker and Mulligan. BBPOSIS. The Clerk reported on the various works carried ont dating the month, and recommended the formation of the South Road near Chertsey, where docks have bean taken up under Village Settlement Act. The Chairman repotted that he hsd daring the month accepted J. Hammond’s tender for ploughing and sowing gums In the plantation reserve r und the settle inent. He hsd also consulted the Board’s Solicitors rc the Ellesmere claim, and the same would be gone on with as soon as possible. GRASS S'tJED, It was resolved that Is per bushel would be giyen for grass seed at Ipped from the toads, the Clerk to attend to the matter. ’ ‘‘ WATER. The County Council wrote re the natural ■■ater courses in the district and interfering with the storm water's natural course. It was resolved to sink Jt new su np tn the Village Settlement The Chairman of the Mount HnU Boar' 5 wrote stating that an application had been forwarded for permission to rsi»e a b an of £3OOO fee tbe purpose of a storm water scheme. Whita wrote re gravel pits on bis land. Mr SUcock waited on the Board with regard to the pit taken In the j-lantatlon on Mr White’s land ; when he took hu contract there were to be two pits to open instead of three, and as one was in a ylantatJon be weald uk tbe Board to

Mr Collins wrote asking for his name to be taken off the roll for land at D .-omore. The Ashburton County Council wrote stating that tne usual la 6d per 100 wou'd be given for birds eg;s and heads. It was rfß"l' ed that an additional 6d be added to the la 61 given by the Council for eggs per hundred. It was resolved t a call for tenders for tusaocking and formation of about 50 chains of the Main South road near Cherts* y TILLAGE SETTLEMENT. The .Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote, stating that £ll 16s 10.1, accrued monies from the sale of Rakaia Village Settlement, was now deposited with the Receiver-General. Resolved that plans of requirements be forwarded to the Commiaalonor of Crown Lands. ADVERTISING ETC Considers! on of the subject of reporting meetings and advertising in the Christchurch papers was deferred till next meeting. WATER CROSS NGS. It was resol td that the Chairman and Cle’k visit wa'er crossings, repotted on by the County Engineer as being too high, ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £364 15a 7d were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
