THE PROSPECTS OF TRADE.
The Auckland Hera'd takes a sanguine view of trade prospects and says :—That trade is Improving seems now to be an admitted fact', even by those who have a predisposition to take a gloomy view of things commercial. On all hands there are indications that trade Is brisker, and that here is a better demand upon the resources of the distributing houses, th ugh there are still complaints that m meyis difficult to obtain upon easy terms. That money is difficult to secure for ordinary commercial purposes is not to be taken as evidence that there is a scarcity of it In the place, for balancas are rapidly accumulating, and as soon as confidence is fully re-estpbllshed money will be found plentiful for all legitimate purposes. That the worst of the long trade depression is now over may be accepted as a fact, and every week will help to advance the improvement of oar commercial position.
