A Caution. Auckland, December 1, At the Police Court to-day Edward Leydon pleaded guilty to falsely representing himself to be a bona fide traveller at the Waitomata Hotel on Sunday last, and was fined £5 and costs. Burns’ Club. The Auckland Burns’ Club celebrated St. Andrew’s Day by a very successful Jacobite entertainment in St. James’ Hall last mgbt. New Railway. It is stated that Owen, contractor, of Sydney, has entered into a contract to finish the Ka hu Valley Railway, 16 miles from Dargaville to Kaihu Bush. The price is between £SO 000 and £60,000. The line will open up valuable country. A Windfall. New Plymouth, D°cember 1. The decree in the case, Harbor Board versus Finking Fund Commissioners, was settled according to Judge Ward’s judgment yesterday in the Supreme Court. This morning the Harbor Board have had refunded them by the Judge’s ruling some £20,000, which goes towards the construction of works. Congratulation. Dunedin, December 1. Captain Edie was this afternoon the recipient of an illuminated address and signet ring, in recognition of successfully bringing up the Mararoa to Dunedin.
