The wool sales opened to-day. There was a large sttendance of Home and foreign buyers. The catalogue comprised io,ooo bales. For greasy merino, prices ruled halfpenny to a penny lower than at the close of the last auctions, and for scoured merino prices from a toad lower. The series close on i6th December.

Sydney, November 30.

A severe shock of earthquake was experienced this morning over a large area in the country districts, where the walls of houses were cracked and ceilings fell in.
