AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENTS.

Concerning the dia lay of implements made by Messrs Reid and Gray a* the Otaco A and P Show, the Daadtn Star says:—Stand No. 1, first on the right hand as one enters by the main gate, la occupied by Messrs Reid and 'dray The exhibits of th : a firm are scarcely so numerous as last year, when they had an lot of goods out of stock in view of the Wellington Exhibition that had been held just previously ; bat the assortment is a complete one, and comprises much ! hat will Interest country folk We may mention that three-fourths of the implements shown in th's collection were taken at haphazard from tne genera) a <>ck, and were not specially “ got up ” with painand petty for this show. It will be observed that th ■ Clayton and Shuttleworth 'hrerhlng mid eeen in motion is dilvon with a patent lit-b-j inted leather belt that is, we ere informed, coming into general use in England, being in demand i nn 800 ’Hitt of Its slrengthiand fL-xibiJiy | s'ngie-furrow lever pi ugh tha r will attract attention has been designed special y o complete wth the American sulky plough, and testimonials as to its efficiency Have been received from as a»»y Queensland, from which colony several orders h*ve recently been reo ived. Another specialty in this collection is a forcefeed broadcast sower with turnip canisters and chsin barrows, for w ich it is c'aimed that, owing to the altered mechanism there is absolutely no possibility of the machine i gettorg choked or sowing irregu'arly, no matter how inattentive the driver may be. This -mp'ement is now In its th-rd season ; but the appliance referred to is new. The doubli-drill turnip and manure-sower has not been shown previous y. Its specially 1 tVit both the rollers are driving rollers, which is considered an improvement on having the machine driven from one r Her. The guano can be put in to any‘depth required, and the seed is sown behind the guano and can be nut in lighter. Attention may be directed to a set of disc harrows and seed-sower, which, though made as a combination machine, can be converted into two separate ones wi.hout difficulty. The novelty about this imple meot is that a particularly strong sp ndle has been fitted in—one that is stiff e ongh to carry the harrows with only two bearings, one at each end. This simplifi-s the «ffatr. The doing away wi'h bushes between the discs is a distinct advantage, as hose bushes are apt to gather a lot of dirt snd obstruct the progress of the machine. The chaff-cutter and bagger on cir iage is fitted with a patent brake, so adjuatad that the risk of spilling the chaff when taking (ff the bag la reduced to a minimum. The manufacturers claim that this implement will do as much work as any of the doablebaggers. To show the satisfaction these machines are giving, it may be mentioned that the firm have disposed of no less than fifty during the past eighteen months, two of them having gone to Victoria. The reaper and binder shown is one for twine-binding, and Is certainly a model of strength and convenience.
