The annual report of the Salvation tro.y’s operations in London has been issued, fom which it appears that there are about eight thousand ‘soldiers’ exclusive of those in the training hems, wo'kiog in ’he rmtropolis, and it is c'vmeJ that du i g the year ended Apr!30 Ji last 10 0 0 souls were saved The wo’k in has been very sue essful, although 'he have F’ ceived very rou h treatment The report states : ‘Our lapse*’ dresses have been torn from their bodies ; our girl officers have had to lead their corps to victory with bl*ok eyes ; and fur her on says :‘ At Romford, 'he fo c s of earth and hell have uni'ed to overthrow the corps. We are driven to the streets, where, until a few weeks ago, kicks and cuffs were as common as “Hallelujahs” among Salvationists. Our good old friend, the big drum, is a perfect auxiliary to oar work ’ Daring the year about three hundred soldiers entered the Olapton Training Home, Ths balance sheet shows that for this year tie London income from all sources was £5951 Of this £3492 was oolleced by the 1 >cal divisi ns, and the whole sum, leas 30s, paid from headquarters for the rent, of buildings. The remainder of. the income was spent in salaries, printing travelling expens s, rates and taxes, etc. —Pall Mall Gazette.
