THE CAIN CASE.
The Timarn correspondent of the Press telegraphed that the following information has been laid by Inspector Broham against Thomas Hall, now in prison under life sentence.
“ That Thomas Hall did, on the 28th January, 1883, at Tlmaru, Wilfully, maliciously, and of ma ice aforethought, kill and murder oi'o Henry Cain.” The enquiry will commence on Monday morning at 11 o’clock, and after seven or nine witnesses have given evidence, an adjournment will be asked for eight days, and futth-r rrmands will from time to tl no be requested until all tho evidence required ia übtiire 1. Among new witnesses will he Mrs Newton, one of the daughters of th) late Captain Cain, and who is now, t is understood, resident in S; dney.
The Timaru Herald of this morning states th t in addition to the evidence which was given at the Coroner’s inqu s , the case will be strengthened by testimony ah wing that tbe prisoner purchased a c nsidershie quantity of antimony In 'l’lm'rn a< me tune before Captisn Cain’s death. , _
