BART WHEAT.
The following report on a new vane'y of wheat is given in the South Australian Chronicle :—We have received from Mr G. A, Wilson, of a r markably flue sample of wheat; accompanied by :he following letter, which will no doubt be read with great interest by agrlonltorste ;— ‘ I forward you per train a sample of the Improved Bart wheat, grown at the farm attached to the Agricultural College, near Fo-eworthy. The wheat is cultivated in Smth Africa, and the sample is taken from a plot of 17 acres (a 1 being of uniform appearance), which was planted on 26th April in drills without any nnnure, the quantity of seed used being half a bushel j;er acre. The sample is 5 feet 6 Inches high, very strong and healthy looking, with ears (now in flower) averaging 4 inc es, exclusive of the beatd, Tit-' spec al pci t with this wheat well worthy of attention, is that it is sust proof, a fact which ought to bo brought prominently before our farmers ’
