THE CAIN CASE.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —I read with considerable interest your article in the Guardian re the inquest on the Lite Capt. Cain Your rem rks may justly bo termed multum in parvo. The public is greatly indebted t the press for the Hall case being investigated into, and no doubt will consider it a disgraceful miscarriage of justice providing the case is quashed. With all due respect to the Coroner, I must say that I did not appro • o of the summing up He stated that poison was found upon Hall when arrested for the attempted poisoning of his wife, but none after the deatli of Gapt. Gain Hall was never arrested for Cain’s death ; therefore no investigation took place the Coroner further stated that Mrs Hall and her sister would be the only parties benefited by the death of Cain. If Mrs Hall was benefited, would not her husqand also be benefited ?—I am, &0., Honest r. Wakanui Road, Nov 20.
