Government baa received fr m lh<' Secretary of State for tbe Colonies, resnlfttions under which comm bsidds in the British Army may be obtained by officers of colonial local military force# The candidate will require to have served at least 15 months as an officer in the local military force of tbe colony, from which be Is nominated, and meat have attend d two annual training", or have seen active service in'the field The candidate most be within the ages of 19 and 22 on Ist January of the year in which he Is to present himself for examination _ Ihe intending candidate will be required to undergo an inspection by a Medical Board, and will not be allowed to proceed with his examination, unless physically qualified for a commission In the army. candidate will also be required, to prove he is of good moral character. The regu a tions go on to detail the examination in which the candidate must qualify. Cntti further notice, two army commissions will be allotted to each of the undermentioned colonies annually, New South W»ks, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, New Zealand, and the Cape fo Gooa Hope Candidates’ papers after being completed, will be returned to the Director-cenreal of Military Education, War Office London, for adjudication. The Governor In the colony is to notify the War Office of the somber of qual fi jd candidates, lid in the event of the number exceeding the number of commissions, the selection will be decided by competition in the military examination.
