THE BELFAST RIOTS.
The Commission appointed to investigate the circumstances causing the r,v.en: riots ia sit ing st B.ufast. On the opeaing day all the barristers engaged in the invest g.vion except two, insisted on an adjournment for a few minutes, fifteen at least, in order to decide on what c urse to adopt. Mr Justico Day refused *o grant an adjournment, spying it wou'd be a waste of time The Judge, despite the protest of the barrisbri, proceeded to examine w tnerses, whereupon f;.e barristers rose and left the Court-io.m in procession, taking their bag', briefs and books yvi th ’hem Several solicitors, priests, and Orangemen interested in the investigation followed the barristers. One barrister, Mr O’Shaugbnrsy. said he was indignant at Mr Justice Day’s o nduct, and added, “'J he Irish harts nut used to such treatment.” A subsequent telsg am states that the result ( f the Oommisdoa is to show that the Home Rule proposals caused the Orangemen to lose :heir heads
