H.M.S. Miranda. Wellington November 6. Arrived, last evening—H it.S. Miranda from Sydney en route for England. She will leave here some time next week. The troop ship Thalia, which brought out relief crews for the Opal and Raven, le expected here within the next fortnight en route for England. The Trisco Mail. Commencing w th the despatch of next month’s ’Frisco mail the contract steamers will leave Auckland a day earlier than now (on Monday instead of Tuesday) correspondingly, mails will also close a day sooner than at present dates at all other places. The change will enable homeward mails being forwarded from New York by the Saturday fast boats for Queenstown and delivered in London three or four days earlier than ia now the case. Smuggling. New Plymouth November 6, The charge of smuggling watches, being part of a salvage stock brought by an immigrant, has occupied the Police Coart for two days and was finished this miming when Jones was fined £25
