SOUTH RAKAIA ROAD BOARD
The usual monthly meeting of the South Rakaia Hoad Board was held on Thursday. Present- Messrs Coster(Ch irman,) Allan, Holmes, Mulligan and Tucker. clerk's report. The Clerk retorted on the virious works carried out and completed during the month GRAVEL Mr W. White waited on the Board in respect to the gravel pit t : ;ken on his land. Ho explained that be intended the pie e taken, to be the site for his new house. He would prefer tot to eel the land, but the shingle only. He thought it would be cheaper for the board. He would leave the preo to be paid for the gravel, for the Board to deci e. Mr White then retired. After considerable discussion, and a further interview with Mr White, it was arranged that the Board should take 2 half-acre pits on fenc , lines on either s de of the proposed site at £ls per acre. FINANCIAL. It was resolved that the £6OO deposited at the Back and maturing on the 6th should be placed to the credit of current a count TENDERS. Tenders as follows were sccepef; — Making open crossing on South Hoad, D. Murphy at £5 17s 6d ; Fencing gravel pit, Isaac Jdoodie, at 6s,per chain ; Shingling lower portion of Main waring Road, JT. Bennison, at lo£d per yard. SECTION. It was resolved to take one acre of land on R S. 16215 CORRESPONDENCE Correspondence was received fiom Messrs Ho mes and Loughrey re tatting land under the Public Works Ac - . A copy of Local Bodies Loins Act was received. Mr Hood applied for psrmts-ion to skim plough «tx feet of the road ins eid of grabbing gorse.—Granted on tl e condition that the work be done to the rails faction of the Board. DCGS AND BIRDS The Comity Council wroto ic the urnplaint of stray dogs without collars, ai d asked if the Board dr sired to ei.f.rce clause IS of the Dog Registrati n Act, Ifßo.—lt was decided that such ic on was not necessary-' It waa resolved to give Is 61 per hundred for small birds eegs and heads. ACCOUNTS BTCAccounts were pasted f-r paymeot amounting to £2S2 12* 5d Permission was gran ed to the Domain Brard to take some of t e old culvert timber, to be pain for at the rsme rate as the balance may be sold for. The Board then adjourned.
