THE CAIN CASE
The Timara correspondent of the Lyttelton Times, referring to the Inquest which opens to-morrow before Mr Beewick, coroner, at ’iimaru, Bays :—The body Is io be disinterred on Thursday morning, end viewed in the cometeiy by the jury, who wilt then adjourn to the ’ounhonse for the farther p-oceedlngs The p IKe have been working op the evidence since the analysis by Professors Black and Ogst m of the portions cf the body taken to Dunedin. After the witnesses that are now to bo brough forward have been examined, It is intended to ask for an •'djournmeot. as it is proposed to bring witnesses from Australia, and perhaps from England, to make the case as complete as possible. In reference to the many rumours that are going about concerning Hall’s supposed connection with the death of the I.tto Captain Cain, the Christchurch correspondent of the Auckland Herald hears from most reliable authority that thefic-s in <he case are that grave suspicions of f ml play on Hall’s part are entertained, and that a searching investigation is now being made into the circumstances. A certain link in the chain of evidence has y : t to bo fuund, however before proceed lag with the latter. What that link is the correspondent is not at liberty to say but he adds that Us discovery is regarded by the authorities as certain. The tvidenca, is It said, will be of a startling character, and is very complete The above is a correct, authoritative s'atemeut of the case, and may be relied on, contrary rumours notwithstanding.
