DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET.

Messrs Samuel Orr and Co., Stafford street, report for the week ending October 20 as follows; Wheat—The market is still active, and any lots offering, especially prime quality, are readily taken up by millers, their stock of this class being light. Medium and inferior are not quite so firm as they were. Tuscan and red straw are still inquired for, and for the former 5s Id is obtainable if really prime. We quote prime Tuscan and red straw, Is lid to 5s Id ; velvet, 4s lOd to 5s ; medium, 4s 5d to 4s 9d; inferior and fowls’ wheat, 3s 9d to 4s 3d. Oats—Hales of oats are now a difficult matter, as the outside markets are thoroughly depressed and showing no signs of improvement. Large quantities continue to arrive, but which chiefly go into store. What are now being sold are only for local requirements and at the following prices :—Prime milling, 2s Id; heavy bright feed, Is lid to 2s ; medium, Is 8d to Is lOd.

Barley—The season is getting too far advanced for a large business to be done in malting, and prices may be said to be nominal, say 2s lid to 3s 2d ; milling, 2s 9d ; feed, 2s 6d to 2s Bd. Grass Seed—Ryegrass is nearly unsaleable, as nearly everyone is sown down, and demand consequently limited. Cocksfoot is still in demand at up to 4Jd for tip-top quality.
