Mr Burke, one of the members for Tsmworth, stated that some remark of Mr Abigail’s was a d d He, and in making an apology repeated the obnoxions epithet. He sul> sequently made an ample apology. A large number of guests are now in Sydney for the Municipal Jubilee Gathering. At the recaption at the Town Hall, one of the beat speeches was made by the Mayor of Wellington, The Mayor of Auckland also spoke. Yesterday the guests were taken round the harbor, and afterwards etatertalned at a banquet at Onbarlta, Paramatta river. The Mayor of Wellington was amongst thoas who responded.

Mr Palmer has given notice of a motion declaring that, in view of the impossibility of obtaining a substantial reduction in the cable rates to Europe from the present Gable Company, Govverment bs empowered to join with one or more of the other colonies in a subsidy to a Gable Cjmpany for the construction of a deep sea cable to Europe.
Hews has been received at Oooktowa of an outrage by the New Guinea natives on the steamboat Koredo, font people being killed and two wounded, whilst the vessel was lying in one of the New Guinea harbors. The vessel was surrounded by native boats, and the natives, without warning, seized the captain and speared him and some others. The boatswain, who waa armed, made a gallant resistance, killed one native ' and wounded two others. The rest then fled,
