ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET
Mr E. G. Staveley (for Few Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports on Ashburton sale, 19th mat. ;—Large entries of stock yarded, comprising 11,000 sheep, 160 cattle, and 50 pigs. There was a good attendances but biddings were dull, and sheep suffered a decline in value. Fat crossbreds, exceptionally heavy, made 17s; medium do, 11s 6d. For Mr W. B. Denshire we sold forward wethers 9s Bd, others making 8s 3d and 10s; forward merino wethers, 7s; -fat shorn crossbreds, 9s. For Mr Denshire, we also.sold half-bred hoggets 7s 4d, and for Mr Primmer 7s 10d, others making 6s 4d to 9s Id, mixed do, 4s Id j merino ewes, with fair percentage, 4s Id and 5s ; good croosbred ewes, with 100 per cent., 10s. Cattle were not much in demand. Fat cows, £4 10s to £sl2s 6d; heifers in good condition, £3 12a; steers, £4 2a 6d.
