The Thoroughbred Horse Macilleathean WILL stand in Ashbuiton and traye the surrounding districts this season. He is a dark brown or black horse, stands 16 bands high, got by English Tim Whiffl r, out of Flying Scud. Tim Whiffler was by Van Galen, cut of Sybil, by Ugly Buck, out of Sylph, by Titha da puta, Van Galen being by Van Tromp, out of Little Casino, by Inheritor Flying Scud was a dark bay mare, bred in Victoria by Mr J. Harper in 1865, got by Fisherman, her dam being Jeanette by Little John, Whilhelmina by Romeo, Moss Rose by Emigrant, the Driver mare (For extended pedigree see English and Australian stud b r oks ) Tim Whiffler was scarcely ever beaten in England. The dam of this horse being by Fisherman shows his grand blood, as a study of the stud book will show that Mu-kefs great success has been from Australian bred mares, for tha descendants of the grand old Fisherman, viz., MartiniHenry, Nordenfelt, and Trenton, are al descended from Fisherman on the dams side.
