MISS HOUSTON ACQUITTED HALL FOUND GUILTY
Christchurch, 3.55 p m. The jury retired at 3 15 p.m. Hall das been found guilty. Houston acquitted IMPRISONMENT FOR LIFE 3.42 p.m. Hall has been found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for life. Miss Houston has been acauitted. Later.
The jury were on'y absent from the Court seven minutes. The Judge formally asked if there was any other charge against Miss Houston. The AttorneyGeneral replied there was none, and she was discharged. Some applause fo'lowed, which was immediately suppressed. His Honor in sentencing Hall to penal servitude for life, remarked that he was one of the worst criminals that had ever come befo e him. But for the alteration in the law he would have been sentenced to death His crime was really worse than that of an ordinary muiderer, and he would be sentenced to the extreme penalty allowed by law —penal servitude for life.
