Woodville, October 14 O. H. Weber, engineer, of Napier, an old settler, left this town for Pahiatua on Tuesday week to Inspect land in the Mangatamoko block, with a view to purchase. He has not been heard of sit e ’ and grave fears are entertained as to his safety, as the rivets were in flood at the time. A search party was out yea erday but got no tidings. Another psrtv ha gone out to-day io mske further search. Crimbeil. Feilding, Octobar 14. William Johnston, recently from Auckland, was crushed by a falling tree In the busn and is not expected to live. A Good Kerorrt. Nelson, October 14. F. A. Field covered one hundred and ■eventy-elght milei in twenty-four houis ride on a bicycle thus beating the New Zealand record by ten miles. The road chosen was between Wakapuska and Belgrove and very hilly in some parts.
