A long discussion took place as to t ie order r.f business, particularly whether tlio evidence should be elicited by tie Vigilance Committee or by Govern men'. It was ultimately resolved that the w tneaaes should make a general statement of what they knew of the matter and be cross-examined by counsel • E' W. Alison was the first witness proposed to be ctiled, bat he lodged a written protest against giving evidence at this stage on the ground that he bad been accused of conspiracy and according to English law he could not give evidence against himself. It was resolved to begin with the evidence of Oliver Maya and ,the examination is now proceeding.
