Wellington, October 9 The £242 000 inscribed stock to bo raised for the District R«ilw»y debentures represent? in round figures about £116,000 for the Rotorua railway ; £33 000 for the Waimate ; £70,000 for the Bakaia ; £20,000 for the DuntroDn-Hakatersmea, bought by the Government under the District Railways Purchase Act. fear is expressed by the Treasury that the announcement of-the deficit of two millions in New South Wales, and the donbts as to whether It Is au addition t) the old deficit, may prejudice the prospects of the loan.
