THE REVENUE.
Wellington, October 7. The Colonial Troanurer states the Customs receipts for the first six months of the financial year are £07,C00 below the estimates, and he does not anticipate much if any, large deficiency du ing the remaining six mouths He thinks that if there hnd been the usual rush to clear goods before the Fm»ncial t tatement the defi clency would have been much less, and attributes the reduced Customs duties to a less expenditure on s, irlre and the lower entry value of eoi ds subject to ad valorem duties. The half-yearly treasury returns will show a less amount, but they only include twenty-five weeks, the second half being twenty seven weeks. The stamp revenue for the year Is expected to coma up to the estimate, large special payments having yet to come in. The pastoral revenues come In well. The railways show less goods traffic during the first half than was expected, but the passenger traffic keeps up well
